The Ministry of Governmental efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, is working to reduce federal spending, reduce the government’s workforce and increase federal agency efficiency.
Dog was created by the president Donald Trump Through an executive order signed on the opening day. Under the matter, Dog will be a temporary organization inside the White House, spending 18 months until July 4, 2026, and carrying out its mission.
The group faced criticism about its arrival in federal systems, including the Ministry of Treasury’s payment system, and it moves to the cancellation of federal contracts and discounts in various agencies. In a letter to Congress, the Ministry of the Treasury official told Congress that Doug had a “reading only” to the payment system.
In the weeks since its inception, DOGE canceled a number of diversity, stock and integration initiatives (Dei) in federal agencies as well as some consulting contracts, canceling lease contracts for unused federal buildings, while also working to unify agencies and repeated programs.

What was Dog or targeted?
DOGE has focused a lot of its initial work on canceling the DEI programs and consulting contracts and ending the rent for federal buildings.
Dog wrote on February 4 that it had canceled 12 contracts in the Department of Governmental Services and the Ministry of Education, which led to a total savings of about $ 30 million. It also canceled 12 incomplete lease contracts for savings of $ 3 million.
On February 3, Dog said it had canceled 36 contracts, which led to savings of about $ 165 million over six agencies.

Dog wrote in a publication on February 2 that he canceled 22 contracts in the past six days, providing $ 44.6 million.
On January 29, Dog said in a post on X that he had canceled 85 decades related to diversity, fairness, integration and accessibility (Deia) in more than ten federal agencies of approximately $ 1 billion. It also canceled a $ 45 million study program for students in Burma.
Musk and DOGE also focused on the USAID Agency (USAID) as a goal for possible savings. The American Agency for International Development was established in the early 1960s to provide aid worldwide, especially for poor and backward regions. The agency is currently operating out of 60 countries and employing 10,000 people, according to Congress Research Service.
The US International Development Agency website has become dark and its employees were prevented at its headquarters on Monday, while the work of others was suspended. The Trump administration announced on Tuesday that all direct rental employees will be placed at the United States Agency for International Development on an administrative vacation starting from February 7.
Foreign Minister Marco Rubio was appointed as Acting Director of the Independent Agency, and the Trump administration indicated that some parts of the American Agency for International Development may be absorbed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

How much did Dog save?
Dog published on January 28 that the group “almost saving the federal government. Requests.”
“A good start, although this number needs to increase> $ 3 billion a day,” Dog added.
Dog did not provide a detailed detail to reduce it, so it is not clear how the savings you claim calculated.
On January 31, Musk claimed that he was “optimistic with caution because we will reach 4B/Day FY2026 day this week.”
He previously suggested that an average of $ 4 billion per day is needed to spend to reduce the federal deficit by a trillion dollars in the 2026 fiscal year, but it has not been published on whether the goal has been achieved.

Most federal spending comes from mandatory spending programs such as social security and medical care, as well as attention to national debt.
Dog has so far focused on the areas listed in estimated spending, which are subject to annual allocations by Congress.
