Transgender lawmaker Zoe Zephyr insists ‘every bit as biologically female as cis women’

Montana state representative Zoe Zephyr, a Democrat, argued that transgender people who identify as women are just as valid biological women as genetic women.

“I literally walked out of meetings with members of Congress and used the bathroom on my way out,” the lawmaker wrote on X Wednesday afternoon. “Trans women are women – full stop. We are every bit as ‘biologically female’ as cis women and @SpeakerJohnson’s statement doesn’t change the fact that women’s spaces include trans women.”

Zephyr House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La. , who announced a new bathroom policy for the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday in response to controversy surrounding transgender Rep.-elect Sarah McBride, D-Deal.

“All single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House office buildings — such as restrooms, changing rooms and locker rooms — are reserved for individuals of that biological sex,” Johnson said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital. “It is important to note that each member’s office has its own private restroom, and unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol.”

“Women deserve women’s only spaces,” she added. She also told reporters, “But we have single-sex facilities for a reason, and women only deserve women’s spaces. And we’re not anti-anybody. We’re pro-women, and I think It’s an important policy for us to continue. I think it’s always been an unwritten policy, but now it’s in writing.”

However, Zephyr begs to differ.

Johnson declined to say whether the trans Rep-elect was male or female, saying all should be treated with ‘respect’.

The lawmaker added in a follow-up post, “These angry words are so far removed from the everyday reality of being trans. It’s obsessive and unrelenting and a never-ending reminder that these people have fear and anger. There is nothing but.”
