“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg suggested Thursday that billionaire X owner Elon Musk is President-elect Donald Trump’s “real” vice presidential pick.
Goldberg made the claim during Thursday’s episode of the ABC talk show, arguing that Musk was making decisions as if he were Trump’s de facto second-in-command. He then argued that he needed to sell his social media platform.
“Musk is the real, real vice president. He’s making the decisions. He’s doing the work, so I think, why wouldn’t he have to give up X with everything he does?”

The co-host’s theory came from X during a discussion on the recent exodus of liberals from the new social media site “Bluesky.”
Fellow co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin remarked that people moving to the new app further widened the country’s divide.
“So we had this, you know, this election that was tense. Donald Trump won, and the right is going to stick to X and then the left is going to be. On the Bluesky. How about we try to talk to each other?” Griffin asked.
Whoopi responded, first by accusing conservatives of bullying liberals from the platform.
He said, “Unfortunately, I have to say on the other hand, I think, it’s driven people away, because – you know – it’s not just the conversation, it’s name-calling and your family To come back and say, ‘I’m going to do this to you,’ and I don’t think anybody should take that from anybody if they’re not.

He added that Republican social media users are also running away from X because his opinions may differ from those of most Republicans. “They’re moving on, too,” he said.
The second reason for his ouster was Trump’s appointment of Musk as part of his cabinet – to head his proposed Department of Government Performance.
“And I also know why, because, you know, as I believe, Elon Musk is the real vice president,” she told her co-hosts.
“Yes, I believe,” he continued, adding that Vice President-elect J.D. Vance is merely an “interim” choice.
“Because I think Matt—not Matt—J.D. Vance. He’s kind of transitional.”

After asking why Musk doesn’t need to dig into Trump’s cabinet with government power as well as X, co-host Sunny Houston replied, “He should.”
“I know we have to go,” Goldberg said as the show neared a commercial break. “But I’m thinking. I’m thinking. We have to go.”
