The US embassy in Kiev, Ukraine, issued a warning on Wednesday after receiving “specific information of a possible significant airstrike”.
The embassy there has been temporarily closed following the alert and employees are being asked to shelter in place.
“The U.S. Embassy advises U.S. citizens to be prepared to evacuate immediately in the event of an air alert,” the statement said.

Employees are asked to take the following steps:
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Identify shelters before any air warning.
- If an air alert is declared, take shelter immediately.
- In the event of an emergency, follow the instructions of Ukrainian authorities and first responders.
