Holocaust survivors celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi detention camp in Auschwitz, Poland.
Marian Torski, 98, and Janena Ewanska, 94, and Tofa Friedman, 86, are all survivors and have shared their painful memories of Auschwitz at a ceremony held on Monday in front of world leaders.
People also walked towards the “death wall” and left the candles to offer their respect outside Building No. 11 in Auschwitz, where thousands of prisoners were executed by Special Security Forces officers.
About 1.1 million people, most of them Jews, were killed in the Auschwitz complex, which made it a site for the largest mass execution of humans ever.
