Russia said Ukraine fired US-supplied long-range missiles into the country for the first time on Tuesday.
Ukraine used Army Tactical Missile Systems (Atacms) in an attack on Russia’s Bryansk region this morning, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said.
It said in a statement that five missiles were shot down and one was damaged, with fragments setting fire to a military installation in the region.
Ukrainian media also reported on the use of American missiles, but Ukraine has not yet commented.
In a statement, Russia’s Defense Ministry said the attack was carried out at 03:25 (00:25 GMT).
It said the fire caused by debris from one of the missiles was quickly extinguished and no casualties were reported.
Ukraine’s military previously confirmed it had hit an ammunition depot in the Russian region of Bryansk, but did not specify whether Atacms were used.
It said 12 secondary explosions occurred in the attack on a depot 100 kilometers from the border near the town of Karachev.
Ukrainian media reported, citing a military source, that American missiles had been used.
