Republicans are pushing to expand their slim majority in the House of Representatives as their last handful of undecided races near the end.
Five House races remain uncontested as of Sunday morning. The balance of power currently stands at 218 seats for the Republicans and 212 for the Democrats.
Alaska
Big District
Democratic officials Representative Mary Sattler Arable He is in a tight race in Alaska’s largest congressional district, where he is trailing Republican entrepreneur Nick Begich.
As of Sunday morning, Begich has a nearly 3-point lead with 48.7% of the vote to Paltola’s 46.1%. The number of votes counted ranged from 155,120 to 146,782 and about 98 percent of the votes have been counted.

California
13th Congressional District
Republican Rep. John Duarte is leading former Democratic state Assemblyman Adam Gray in California’s 13th Congressional District, but the hotly contested race had not been named as of Sunday morning.
About 86% of the votes have been counted, and Duarte has a 50.6% to 49.4% lead. The pair are separated by just over 2,000 votes.

45th Congressional District
Democratic challenger Derek Tran has won the 45th District over Republican incumbent Rep. Michelle Steele. Steele was ahead by a few hundred votes last weekend, but Tran now holds a razor-thin 36-vote lead.
About 94% of the votes have been counted for the district.
Iowa
1st Congressional District
Republican incumbent Rep. Marinette Miller Max has less than 1 percentage point lead over challenger Christina Bohannon with 99 percent of the vote. Miller Max’s lead is just under 1,000 votes.
Trump threw his full support behind Mike Johnson ahead of the speaker’s election
Bohannon has requested a recount in his bid to unseat Miller Max. The Associated Press has not yet called the race because the margin was so close it could have prompted a recount. Miller Max has declared victory and said he is confident of his lead.
Ohio
9th Congressional District
Democratic incumbent Marcy Kaptur leads Republican challenger Derek Marin by less than 1 point in the vote count. As of Sunday morning, Kaptoor’s lead is just over 1,000 votes.
