Every generation of moviegoers has a series of classic comedies in their repertoire that serve as major cultural touchstones during their youth. If you grew up in the early 2000s like I did, the 2007 hit film Superb Almost certainly one of your coming-of-age adventures. Fortunately, those interested in revisiting the comic can find it. Superb Streaming on Netflix starting November 1, for a vintage holiday watch party to kick it off.
Superbad on Netflix
For those not already aware. Superbthe Netflix deal could be your first chance to experience the raunchy comedy, which centers on a pair of awkward high school seniors named Seth and Evan. Boys, who have had little luck with girls during their youth, have convinced themselves that their only chance to get close to their respective people is to raise their social profile.
As the dynamic duo stares down the barrel of graduation, college, and a lifetime of adult responsibility, they resolve to spend their final days in public school counting, buying copious amounts of alcohol for a local party.
This mission to illegally buy party favors turns out to be more difficult than they ever imagined, however, leading Seth and Evan on the adventure of a lifetime. Along the way, they encounter a pair of clueless cops, a group of obnoxious adults throwing a party of their own, and a brash classmate with a brazenly fake ID, named ” McLovin”. As the narrative of Superb reaches its comedic conclusion on Netflix, the couple learns to reevaluate their life goals, their college plans, and even their friendship.
From the mind of Seth Rogen
Superb It was written by longtime friends and frequent collaborators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who founded the Netflix outing in their youth. Admittedly, Fletch Filmmaker Greg Mottola is serving as the film’s director, while popular comedians such as Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Christopher Mintz Plus, Emma Stone, Joe Lou Truglio, Dave Franco, and Saturday Night LiveK. Bill Hader rounds out the cast. Seth Rogen also appears in the credits as a kooky police officer, alongside Bill Hader’s show-stealing Officer Slater, after he passed up the chance to play Seth in the film.
Legacy of Superbad
Personally, I am very happy to see it. Superb streaming on Netflix, because the film was an integral part of my childhood, and contains numerous jokes and turns of phrase that are still part of my regular vernacular to this day. Critics and audiences alike flocked. Superb Upon release, it became the highest-grossing high school comedy in cinematic history, returning nearly $170 million at the global box office, with an estimated production budget of just $20 million. Today, the film holds a near-perfect critic score of 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Whether you are lifelong. Superb Superfan or brand new viewer, you’re sure to enjoy the laughs of the R-rated movie while it’s streaming on Netflix. Anyone under the age of 16 can likely relate to the main characters’ struggles, while those of us who have crossed the threshold of adulthood can look back and see our own ridiculous adventures.
