France’s new prime minister will be the country’s fourth this year and the sixth prime minister of Macron’s presidency after the toppling of Michel Barnier, who lasted only three months. 

“As this political crisis drags on it calls into question not only France’s overall political stability but Emmanuel Macron’s own position,” says FRANCE 24’s senior reporter, Catherine Norris Trent, reporting from outside the Elysée Palace in Paris.
