Both Kidman and Dickinson have been open about shooting some of the film’s more sexual scenes, Kidman said. Variety that he found “the whole thing” difficult;
“Really doing justice to it and trying to be open and raw and trying to be available every day in every way possible,” he continued. “Because the nature of this movie, it was either going to be completely vulnerable and exposed, or you’re going to be protected, and then it doesn’t connect. Ever since I met. [director Halina Reijn]and we talked through it, I was just like, ‘Just give us a safe place,’ and then, ‘Please don’t make me look like a fool.’
Dickinson added that the couple worked with an intimacy coordinator to set their boundaries beforehand.
“The immediate coordinator is saying, ‘What do you feel comfortable with, what do you want as a director, what are you doing with that vision?’ he said. “They’re facilitating that and doing it very subtly without disrupting the original scene.”
