‘RHOSLC’ RECAP: Mary Cosby’s Son Admits To Mixing Xanax and Cocaine In Emotional Confession!
A Mother Confronts the Truth
The November 27th episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City took an emotional turn for Mary Cosby. Mary is facing one of the most challenging moments of her life — addressing her son Robert Jr.’s drug addiction. In a raw and heart-wrenching exchange, Mary sits down with her 21-year-old son as he opens up about his substance abuse issues.
“I’m taking Xanax,” Robert Jr. admits. “I just take half to chill me out, and then I had an Adderall to balance out the Xanax.”
Mary, visibly emotional, listens as he continues to reveal the extent of his struggles. “When I get high, it’s like adding seasoning to it,” Robert Jr. explains, describing how the substances mask his feelings of unhappiness.
Robert Jr.’s Journey Into Addiction
Robert Jr. shares that his experimentation began at age 16, during a party where a friend gave him Xanax. “At first, I was like, ‘I’m going to just stick to natural stuff,’” he recalls. “Then, I went to a party, and someone gave me Xanax. I started buying it. Then, I started doing Xanax with Acid and then Molly with Xanax. I really like Xanax, so I mix it with everything. Xanax and cocaine.”
The revelations only grow more alarming as Robert Jr. details his use of opioids. “You know the regular 30mg Oxys? I noticed … this was, like, a turning point for me. I was taking 10 at once, and I couldn’t even feel it.”
Mary’s Heartbreak
As her son describes his struggles, Mary begins to cry but assures him that her love is unconditional.
“I would never judge you,” she tells Robert Jr. “I can try and help you, but you have to help yourself because I am not going to support it. Do you accept that you’re having a problem?”
In her confessional, Mary reflects on Robert Jr.’s earlier years and how far he has strayed from the boy she once knew. “Robert was, like, the perfect child. He was very good in school, he got straight As, all the way up until he graduated,” she says. “When he set his mind to do something, he did it. He was, like, our prize. Very smart, very advanced. That’s the Robert I know. That’s the Robert I’m trying to reach.”
Mary also expresses guilt over not recognizing the signs earlier. “I feel like I let him down somewhere,” she admits. “I trusted him in my mind, thinking that’s where he would stop. I was clearly wrong. I missed the mark.”
A Life-Changing Admission
The conversation takes an even more emotional turn when Robert Jr. reveals the depths of his despair. “I wanted to die,” he confesses. “I just felt like a stain. I just felt like this world wasn’t for me.”
Mary, devastated by his words, tells him, “You know how that would kill me?” She pleads with him to see his value and the love she has for him. “I think I love you more than Dad, like, don’t ever tell Dad I said that, but you’re my friend, you’re my son, you’re my gift. God gave you to me.”
As the two embrace, Robert Jr. whispers, “I love you.”
An Ongoing Journey
Days before the episode aired, Mary shared an update on Robert Jr. during an interview with Us Weekly. “He’s steady, which I think is good,” she said. “It’s a heavy topic. But for me, because it all just came at once on me and I didn’t expect it, but I’m taking it day by day.”
Despite the challenges, Mary remains hopeful for her son’s future, emphasizing that love and support will be key to his recovery.
