Yesterday I headed south on country roads east of Morgan Hill through San Martin to Gilroy. I was lying down with electrical assistance. The wind was light so I was able to maintain an average speed of just under 20 mph, which is an exhilaratingly fast pace. This covered 27 miles in just over 90 minutes. I enjoyed seeing our hills green from the recent rains.
We are lucky that our plants are not too dry here in the north. Our friends to the south were not so lucky, the weather is much drier there, and they had strong winds in Santa Ana that brought warm dry air which exacerbated the fires. I don’t know anyone who has lost their home, but we think of those who have lost their home. Our firefighters went out of their way to help, just as SoCal firefighters have helped us in the past. We are all in this together.
