House Speaker Mike Johnson clarified Tuesday after refusing to answer a reporter’s question about whether transgender Rep.-elect Sarah McBride, D-Del., is a man or a woman.

Johnson declined to say whether the trans Rep-elect was male or female, saying all should be treated with ‘respect’.

Outside the Capitol late Tuesday, Mace said Johnson told him Monday he would include his resolution in the House rules package.
“And if it doesn’t end there, I will amend the House Rules package,” Mace said. “And I also have a privilege motion if it’s not in the House Rules package of the 119th Congress. I’m going to vote on it. That’s not right. I’m going to be a survivor of sexual assault.
