Mike Tyson looked like a terrible, miserable caricature of the fighter he once was, losing to boxer Jack Paul, a YouTuber, by a wide eight-round unanimous decision Friday night in a broadcast that aired on Netflix. It was full of problems. Fans were constantly outraged by the video being released, and it only got worse when the Tyson vs. Paul fight broke out.
Tyson fought back with injuries.
After the fight, Tyson mentioned that he was dealing with injuries but added, “I don’t want to make excuses.” What is he talking about? The mere mention of Tyson’s injury woes was making an excuse.
The fight showed just how low 58-year-old Mike Tyson (50-7, 44 KOs) was left, sinking three left hooks from Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) in the third and struggling through the remaining five rounds. . .
Round eight was the cherry on top of a miserable evening for fans. Neither Warrior did anything while the cheering crowd of 72,000+ cheered at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Tyson resembled a dinosaur.
The scores of the match were 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73, all for the 27-year-old Jake, who had too much youth for the 60-ish Tyson. It wasn’t that Jack was very nice. It was a case of Tyson being as old as an extinct dinosaur, where he should be. It does not belong in any circle. The way Tyson looked, he needed to be in a care home.
Tyson had trouble moving around the ring with his old, tired legs and looked tired between six and eight championship rounds. The strange thing is that Jack wasn’t even fighting hard, and yet Tyson looked like he was going through an ancient 15-round fight. He was so tired that the fight should have been stopped.
Paul looked like he was easing up on his punches and not going after Tyson after intentionally hurting him in the third. All it would have taken was a short 10 second burst of punches from Jack, and he would have knocked Tyson out.
“I was trying to hurt him” Jack said after the fight.
Interestingly, Mike indicated that he would return to the fight to fight again, mentioning Logan Paul, Jack’s brother. There won’t be a fight between them after tonight’s train wreck.
Netflix streams were freezing.
Fans were upset during tonight’s Tyson-Paul event and were complaining that their Netflix streams were freezing, preventing them from watching the action without constant interruptions.
If Netflix continues to do boxing in the future, they will need to solve the problem of liberating so that fans will want to order their events.
