'Insurgent Nations': Comparing rebel rule in Angola and South Sudan
After the visit Joe Biden paid to Angola last week, the author of a new book has spoken to FRANCE 24 about hope and optimism in Angola and South Sudan. In “Insurgent Nations: Rebel Rule in Angola and South Sudan”, Paula Cristina Roque looks at two of Africa’s longest civil wars: one in Angola involving UNITA rebels in the 80’s, and the other in Sudan involving SPLM rebels in the 90’s. She spoke to us in Perspective about the ideologies driving the conflicts and the scars they left on Angolan and South Sudanese societies.
