Chelsea are one of 32 teams competing at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
The Blues’ contemporary rise, which was largely attributed to the riches of former owner Roman Abramovich, culminated in two Champions League successes nine years apart. The second of which, spearheaded by Thomas Tuchel in 2021, saw them emerge as one of the first qualified teams for the expanded Club World Cup.
You can never be too sure with a Chelsea manager, but it does look like Enzo Maresca will be the man tasked with leading the club into battle out in the States. 2025 will be Chelsea’s third Club World Cup appearance, but the competition’s expansion renders success much trickier to attain.
The Blues were crowned world champions for the first time at the end of 2021 as they beat Palmeiras 2-1 after extra time.
The novelty of the 2025 tournament should ensure the experience is an exciting one for everyone involved. Here’s how you can follow Chelsea during the 2025 Club World Cup.
The tournament itself gets underway on 15 June (UK time) as Inter Miami take on Al Ahly in Group A. Chelsea supporters, however, won’t have to wait long after the curtain-raiser to catch the Blues in action.
Chelsea’s first group stage game has been pencilled in for Monday 16 June against Mexican outfit Leon. The fixture is scheduled to kick-off at 20:00 BST.
The group stage draw for the 2025 Club World Cup was made at the start of December.
Chelsea were included in Pot 2 for the draw and were paired with 2022 Copa Libertadores winners Flamengo, 2023 CONCACAF Champions League victors Leon, and ES Tunis, who qualified for the tournament via the CAF ranking pathway, in Group D.
The Blues begin their campaign against Leon in Atlanta before moving to Philadelphia for their remaining two games against Flamengo and ES Tunis.

Chelsea’s potential knockout round opponents
Chelsea’s path to the 13 July final at MetLife Stadium has already been mapped out. The Blues will be favoured to top Group D and face the runners-up of Group C in the round of 16.
Group C consists of Bayern Munich, Boca Juniors, Auckland City, and Benfica. Benfica and Boca Juniors would seem the most likely to compete for second spot. If Chelsea finish second, they may feel the wrath of Bayern in the last 16.
Based on the current projections, Chelsea would be on the same side of the draw as one of PSG and Atletico Madrid, or, alternatively Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.
Supporters across the globe will be able to watch all the action unfold in the USA after FIFA agreed a £829m broadcast deal with DAZN. As a result of the lucrative deal, Chelsea are set to earn as much as £60m in participation money.
DAZN will stream all of Chelsea’s games at the 2025 Club World Cup for free.
There will doubtlessly be plenty of interest to catch Chelsea in action across the pond at the Club World Cup.
Tickets will be available to purchase through FIFA’s portal, but all you can do at this stage is register your interest in tickets for the tournament. Further details are likely to be provided in the new year.
