Sharing a quick and easy recipe for dog treats that your pup will love! All you have to do is prepare the dough, cut it into the shape of your choice, then bake it.
Hello friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We went back to school this week and I started beta testing the nutrition coaching. I’ll be posting more details about this next week, so stay tuned!
Today we will talk about dog treats. I know – kinda random for a fitness blog – but my top posts ever have been about guinea pigs, baby food, and potty training, so here we are haha.
Also, Macy loves these things so much she insisted that I share the word for those of you with furry friends out there.
I made these dog treats on a whim, using some ingredients we always had on hand. Maisie loves healthy bites of human food, and let’s just say she’s all about it. She loves plain chicken, eggs, bell peppers, natural peanut butter, and watermelon. She’s also a big fan of bully sticks Market is booming. She was also a big fan of homemade dog treats! They are so much better than packaged dog biscuits. Let me know if your pets try it, and as always, consult your vet before changing their diet.
Ingredients for a home-made dog treat recipe:
Here are the must-have ingredients in peanut butter dog treats:
Natural peanut butter (make sure the only ingredients are peanuts and salt, and no weird oils or sweeteners), which gives it a bit of protein and a nutty flavor.
Pumpkin puree (or even sweet potato puree) β This is a great source of fibre
Garbanzo flour (you can also use whole wheat flour)
egg
Instant oatmeal (I will use instant oats instead of rolled oats)
And all-purpose flour for rolling out the dough
And that’s it!!
You can also cut them using a bone-shaped cookie cutter π
You can always adjust the cooking time, depending on how crispy you want it. It can also be stored in the refrigerator for later.
Here’s a quick recipe for healthy dog ββtreats β it’s super easy!

Homemade dog treats (quick and healthy!)
This is a quick recipe that your furry friend will love! I used garbanzo bean flour (they love chickpeas!) but feel free to use whole wheat instead.
1 cup Chickpea flour (whole wheat can be used instead)
3 Eggs (keep one for washing eggs)
1/4 cup Pumpkin puree
1/2 cup Peanut butter (check ingredients for peanuts and salt only)
1/2 cup Quick cooking oats
All-purpose flour for rolling
Biscuit cutters of choice
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees, then line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine two eggs, peanut butter, pumpkin, chickpea flour (or wheat flour), and oat flour. Stir until dough is formed. Add more garbanzo bean flour or some all-purpose flour to the dough if necessary.
Sprinkle some all-purpose flour on a clean surface and add the dough. It will be somewhat sticky, so use flour to coat the outside of the dough as you roll it out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes and gently place them on the baking sheet.
Mix remaining dough, roll and repeat.
Make the egg wash by whisking the remaining egg and 1 tablespoon water in a small bowl. Use a pastry brush to paint the egg wash over the top of each dog treat.
Place in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes until firm. Allow to cool completely before storing at room temperature or in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
Have you ever tried a homemade dog biscuit recipe? What food does your dog always go crazy for? I never eat chicken without thinking of Bella.
