Pep Guardiola insists that Manchester City still has a “bright future” despite another disappointing defeat against Liverpool.
The Premier League champions in the last four seasons, City is now 20 points behind the opponents on Sunday in the Federation, which now seems to steal their crown after its 2-0 victory.
The misery week of Guardiola also watched them out of the Champions League to Real Madrid in the middle of the week, where the star players in the years went to reach the high standards they set in recent years.
While the Catalan president, who will remain in City for at least another season, suggested that rebuilding is required for this team, but he is confident that the club is in a good position to raise itself to Liverpool standards in the future.
Tell Guardiola Sky Sports: “If you lose, you have to lose the way we lost today. I saw many things that this club has a bright future with the players we have.
“With the exception of Kevin de Bruyne and perhaps Nathan Ak, all players are very young. What the club decides after that for the future, there is a bright future for this club in the coming years.
“Everyone knows that a part will be here next season for the older players, but we have to build for the next step. There is a time issue.
“Even with the amount of absence we have, we played well. They break the lines and can break your behind.
“They are really threatening, but we bring them there and all that we missed is that in the last third, it depends on the talent in Salbah or shooting at the right moment. From there, we build for the future.
“We are far away. We’ll see in the future. What we did in previous seasons is good, but we are now far from them. We played with the really good character.”
Guardiola: We played very well
City’s performance on Sunday afternoon was out of their worst this season, but it was unprecedented in the ARNE SLOT team, who looked at control as soon as Dominic Szoboszlai doubled his progress in 37 minutes of the Opening of Salah Momahid.
Guardiola was happy with the performance, but she said that they were lacking in this additional level required to overcome a Liverpool team.
He added: “We played well. Maybe we have missed more productivity in the shots but we played against a great team. Maybe at first it was 50-50 and we could not transfer.
“The second half defended very deep. We did something that we did not try for many games that we brought to their box and tried to overcome them there.
“The tactic was to arrive in the last third and high school and happened a lot, but we did not register. We missed the next thing a little and with the crosses, it is almost impossible to do this because of its size. We could not find the next step.”
