The Daniel Jones Era has officially come to an end in East Rutherford, New Jersey, as the New York Giants made their franchise quarterback in hopes of opting out of his contract after a tumultuous 2024 season. will go
Head coach Brian Daboll confirmed reports that Jones had been moved to third and that Tommy DeVito, who has held the position all season, was slated to start at quarterback. DeVito won three games as a starter last season with both Jones and Tyrod Taylor injured.
But despite being a fan favorite, DeVito likely isn’t the future at quarterback for the Giants. That leaves Daboll, general manager Joe Schoen and the rest of the organization going back to the war room to figure out the age-old question for any NFL team: Where can we find a franchise quarterback?

There are a few schools of thought, but Giants legend Victor Cruz has another question that will be answered in due time.
That’s how badly the Giants want Arch Manning — the nephew of the man who used to throw Cruz passes that led to his salsa touchdown celebrations, Eli Manning.
“Well, it’s interesting, right? I’ve already done this little mental deep dive on it,” Cruz told Fox News Digital about the Giants’ quarterback situation, while his partnership with Captain Morgan Also talked about. “So, the question is, if I’m the GM of the Giants, if I’m John Marra, if I’m the guys at the top, do I want Ark Manning?”
Giants star Dexter Lawrence admits ‘some confusion’ with Daniel Jones benching: ‘He’s QB1’
Arch is a sophomore in the Texas Longhorns’ football program, but has yet to become a starter with Queen Evers running Steve Sarkisian’s offense the past two seasons, including 2024.
However, the expectation is that Arch will take his place as the next great Manning in the NFL at the quarterback position, and he’s already shown flashes of what he can do this season when he takes over for the injured Evers. Had to take charge.
So, while some Giants fans would expect a rookie quarterback to be drafted with a higher pick – the Giants currently own the fourth overall pick if the season ended today – Cruz thinks This is the question that needs to be answered first in pursuit of the next. Great Giants quarterback.
“Is it something where we have a stop-gap year, where we just draft talent, we draft guys, we build our roster? And then the next year, you get Ark Manning. So every possible effort will have to be made,” he elaborated. “Trade up, trade down, trade left, trade right. You’ve got to figure out how to get Arch Manning, if that’s what you want, because he’s going to put the butt on the seats, around him. Manning will have flashes, which obviously New York fans know and love well.
“Is this a stopgap year, and we get the arc, or is it a blockbuster? [Sanders] Or is it Cam Ward, I love both of those guys, and I wouldn’t be mad if those guys wore blue next season?”
Sanders, son of Deon Sanders, has shined for the Colorado Buffaloes, while Miami’s Cam Ward continues to lead his team to victory despite adversity, a quality Cruz likes to see from a quarterback.
Both are expected to be among the top quarterbacks taken in the 2025 draft, while Ark won’t be able to announce until next year. Evers will also come out of Texas this year, paving the way for Ark to become the sole starter in Austin, where many believe his draft stock will be cemented as a high first-rounder.
“I think he’s a bowler, too,” Cruz said of Ark. “I think he’s faster than any Manning we’ve ever seen. We can throw him, he’s got that thing about him, and I think he’s a great player.”
There’s no doubt that the Giants’ quarterback room will be very different in 2025, but the organization will have to figure out what the right move is in terms of filling it. Giving Ark a chance to follow in his uncle’s footsteps would likely mean having another down season to get a high draft pick, or buying a bunch of other picks to move up for a chance to take him.
And what’s to say Ark doesn’t stay for his senior season in 2026, opting instead to come out for the 2027 draft?
To counter that possibility, have the Giants just use the top pick they’re expected to take on a rookie quarterback this year, maybe even bring in a veteran, and hopefully get them in 2025. Will be able to compete again?
It’s never been thought that any team wants to go into Week 12 of the season, but at 2-8 after a bye week, and with Jones’ diagnosis resulting in his benching, the Giants have to wonder what’s next. have to do There are a few games left on the slate.
Get creative with Captain Morgan
While Cruz tries to answer the Giants’ quarterback question, he’s also excited about his latest collaboration with Captain Morgan, especially the one he and fashion designer Kid Soper created for the company’s “Follow the Captain.” ” produced as part of a scavenger hunt.
Cruise discussed how much fun he had creating a crewneck sweater with Kid Super that pays homage to his trademark touchdown dance.
“Our crew is falling with you, Captain Morgan, Kid Sooper. [The crewnecks] Definitely embody my style, like my flying, got a little salsa love in there,” Cruz said. “I’m definitely excited about it, not just for people to go out there. And see it and wear it and buy it. , but only to be part of the crew. I think getting that crew neck makes you part of the squad, part of the team. So, when you see me out there, and you’re rocking your crew, and I’m rocking myself, it just brings everything together and brings the team atmosphere together.”
