Gaurav Taneja, a former pilot turned YouTuber, has questioned the brand impact of Shark Tank India after recently failing to land a deal from the show. After not getting any deal for his brand BeastLife in Shark Tank India Season 4, Taneja raised questions about the marketing power of the show.
In a post on LinkedIn, Taneja wrote: “We recently took a hit Monster life to shark tank india It was a great experience! Many tout the offer as a tremendous branding tool – even if you don’t secure a deal, the offer is invaluable.
Naturally, we expected a huge spike in website traffic, given the strong brand equity and massive audience Shark Tank has gained over four seasons. But here’s what the numbers revealed:
🔹Traffic Rozier Foods Launch day: 𝟰𝟬𝟴𝗞
🔹Traffic Monster life Launch day: 𝟮𝟯𝟴𝗞
🔹Traffic in and after Hashtag #SharkTank Release date: 𝟮𝟮𝗞
Surprisingly, the traffic from Shark Tank was even lower than the push from our Instagram Stories!
He wondered if Shark Tank India might lose popularity due to being under a paywall. The show may gain traction once the episodes are uploaded to YouTube (making it free to watch for a larger audience), he said, adding that “skipping the TV broadcast for Season 4 was a strategic mistake.”
In the latest episode of Shark Tank India Season 4, Taneja Karami appeared with his business partner in his fitness brand BeastLife. The fitness brand sells a variety of products such as easy-to-digest protein supplements, creatine monohydrate, and energy-boosting energy boosting supplements.
During the presentation, they claimed that the brand quickly attracted attention, clocking sales worth Rs 1 crore within just an hour of launching its website.
Taneja aka Flying Beast also found himself in the middle of another controversy for promoting a brand other than BeastLife with Shark Tank India. He was seen promoting Rosier Foods, another brand known for making organic ghee using Vedic technology. Other popular products of the brand are oil, amlabrush, raw and natural honey as well as nut butter.
Social media users were outraged by the promotional exercise. Some users even suggested that people should stop consuming the content of influencers like Gaurav Taneja. Others thought the move was hypocritical considering the YouTuber didn’t tell anything about Rosier Foods on the show but is now promoting it with Shark Tank.
