Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis posted on X today, reacting to news of his negotiations with Virgil Ortiz Jr. breaking down. Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) says he was “unaware” of any negotiations with Virgil and told fans “at a later date and Will tell you at the time.
Ennis’ secret post
It’s unclear why Ennis didn’t state his intentions in his social media post, but it would have been easy for him to do so. His silence only adds to the belief that he is in the running for a Feb. 22 fight with Ortiz (22-0, 21 KOs).
It’s hard for fans to believe that he was “unaware” of the conversation with Virgil. How can shoes not know what’s going on? It’s news everywhere, and certainly his promoter, Eddie Hearn, told him about the conversation. It just looks fishy.
At this point, Ennis needs to fight this fight with Virgil because his popularity is about to take a hit that’s worse than if he loses. Looking scared is worse than losing. This is seen as cowardly by fans and reinforces their theory that Ennis’ jump was a hype act. He won his IBF welterweight title by email and hasn’t fought well since he picked it up.
If Ennis is going to fight Vergil, he will have to make a quick decision because there are 84 days before February 22, and he will need to start training. Furthermore, the fight needs to be promoted as part of other matches on the Riyadh Season card.

“I heard the Virgil and Boots split. I’m telling you right now, it’s duck soup at its best,” Tim Bradley responded on social media to the breakdown of Virgil Ortiz Jr. vs. Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis negotiations. said while doing
“That’s exactly what you want to do when you want to duck someone when you change your mind when you’re not sure you’re good enough. I don’t want to hear anyone else say anything about shoes. Not to be said. We are not saying any of that now.
“It’s a clear indication here that he doesn’t want any smoke because this is a great matchup for him at 154 pounds. This is a small guy, not a big guy. He’s been at 154 for a while, but it’s a great matchup. ,” Bradley said, would be an ideal match for Vervil Jr. Ennis on Feb. 22.
Duck Soup Claims
This seems like a duck job on Ennis’ part, and his comment about not being unaware of the conversations taking place makes it seem unfounded. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, said he spoke to him, and he claimed they wanted to unify at welterweight. If it wasn’t true, the deer wouldn’t make this story.
“What about all that talk your promoter was doing after? [Karen Chukhadzhian] to fight [on November 9th]? It was really difficult for him to make ‘154, 147. Weight was a problem.’ You were all blaming his last performance, right? Now you want to stay at 147? Bradley said.
“You can stay at 147. You can fight. You just have to talk to the sanctioning body. [IBF]. You just have to say, ‘Hey, I want to go up to 154, and I want to fight Virgil and keep my belt at 147 pounds.’ They’re going to say, ‘Yes, as long as you pay the approval fee.’ That’s it. That’s all he has to do,” Bradley said.
The International Boxing Federation will likely allow Ennis to freeze his title so he can move up to 154 to challenge Virgil Jr. for his WBC interim belts. Even if they say no, Ennis losing his IBF title is no big deal because he can always come back to the welterweight division and beat whoever gets it.
“Obviously, he’s not as bad as you think he is. All those fans thinking he’s bad. It’s not a good look for Boots and his team, man. Boots didn’t fight anybody. It Not looking good for boot camp,” Bradley said. For this he does not even have to leave his pocket. It will be Saudi Arabia’s money. It’s unbelievable to me, man.
“Shoes, you need to fight at 154. Step up and face this man because I’m telling you, you look like a sucker. You and your team are looking for a sucker.” “Brother. Get ready. Here’s some duck soup,” Bradley said.
