DeGeneres, 66, and De Rossi, 51, left their Montecito, Calif., home and moved to the Cotswolds, a rural area in England about two hours outside of London. TMZ.
The couple, who married in 2008, plan to sell their California property and are still considering how much to ask for it. They sold their second mansion, a 10-acre property in Santa Barbara County, for $96 million in August.
DeGeneres recently wrapped up her “Ellen’s Last Stand” tour, which came with a Netflix special titled “For Your Approval.”

Exclusively, DeGeneres opened up about being, in her words, “fired from show business,” following allegations of workplace toxicity that surfaced during her hosting tenure. The Ellen DeGeneres Show From 2003 to 2022. She told the audience that she was proud of who she had become after the scandal.
“[I’m] Just a multifaceted person with different feelings and emotions, and I can be happy and sad and empathetic or frustrated,” she said. “I have OCD and ADD. I am honest. I am generous. I am sensitive and thoughtful. But I’m tough and I’m impatient and I’m demanding. I am direct. I am a strong woman.”
She added that after spending her entire career worrying about what other people thought of her, she “can’t do it anymore.”
“I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, ‘It’s none of my business what other people think of me.’ People will say and think all kinds of things and you have no control over that. But you know the truth and that’s all that matters,” DeGeneres said. “But that’s easier said than done. Because being in this business I have to care about what people think. Because being a comedian or a host, that’s the only real currency for our success. If they like you, you’re in, and if they don’t, you’re out. And I’ve spent my whole life trying to please people, and I’ve cared a lot about that What other people think about me.
DeGeneres has made such honesty an important part of her act over the years and has been candid about the challenges she’s faced coming out and being gay in show business.
She met de Rossi in 2000, three years after they first came out. Their relationship didn’t turn romantic until 2004, and when it did, De Rossi said it gave her the courage to be open about her sexuality as well.
“I have so much respect for her. She was so brave and so loud in ’97, and now she’s doing something that’s even more spectacular,” De Rossi said. Advocate In 2005 “She’s changing the world, she really is, and it’s exciting to be a part of it.”
When the allegations against DeGeneres first surfaced, De Rossi stood by his wife and didn’t seem to be swayed. On the couple’s 16th wedding anniversary on August 16, Ellen wrote via Instagram “I am so blessed to have loved the most amazing person I have ever known. I love you Portia. You Be my everything.”
