President-elect Trump announced Sunday that he has selected Brendan Carr to serve as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) beginning in January.
Carr, currently the FCC’s senior Republican member, was first nominated to the commission by Trump in 2017. In a statement released Sunday night, Trump praised Kerr and noted that he was “unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate. Times.”
“His current term runs through 2029 and, because of his great work, I will now nominate him as permanent chairman,” Trump wrote.
The Republican leader called Kerr a “free speech warrior” who “fought regulatory law that has stifled Americans’ liberties and stifled our economy.”

“He will end the regulatory onslaught that is crippling America’s job creators and innovators, and make sure the FCC delivers for rural America,” Trump added.
“Congratulations to Chairman Brandon Carr on a job well done,” the president-elect’s statement concluded. “Lead us to a great future, Brandon!”
In an X-post on Sunday, Carr thanked Trump and wrote that he was “humbled and honored to serve as chairman of the FCC.”
Carr recently made national headlines when he ripped the “Saturday Night Live” cast for featuring Kamala Harris as a guest on the platform without inviting Trump, which violates FCC rules. .
