The Peacock series, which premiered in 2023, follows the fictional couple Ava (Kelly Coco) and Nathan (Chris Messina) as he teamed up with serial killer Matt (Tom BatemanStarting a podcast to make money from the true crime trend. Matt – the West Side rapper – is not happy when Ava and Nathan try to break up with him at the end of the season, leaving Ruby (Priscilla QuintanaA dead body on their doorstep.

Season 2 picks up with Ruby’s husband Simon (Aaron Staten), he took the blame for the murder he committed – but Matt took credit for it. Matt’s relationship with Ava’s sister Tori (Liana Liberato), he tried to stop people from killing him. He seemed to be thriving until a copycat assassin brought Matt out of retirement.

Meanwhile, Ava and Nathan try to navigate parenthood while prioritizing their relationship. For Nathan, this resulted in problems in his work life that he was hiding from his wife. Ava, for her part, returns to trying to solve the murder without hinting at math.

The season finally ends with a new body after Tori kills Matt’s ex-wife Olivia.Melissa Fomero), aka the fellow mom who Ava thought was her new friend. While Ava, Nathan and Matt initially work together to clean up the crime, the serial killer turns on the pair. In the finale, Nathan is arrested after Matt takes evidence away from himself.

The season 2 premiere showed Ava adjusting to the first months of motherhood. In an attempt to prove Tori wrong, Ava goes to the park to befriend the co-mother, which is how she runs into Dru (Fumiro). Eva and Drew become friends and the newbie shares information from her job as a detective about the copycat killer.

Ava uses this information to get back into the game solving murders. He even gained an online following after anonymously sharing theories about the new killer that turned out to be true. But as soon as Ava found a fan base, she lost support because she wasn’t connecting all the dots. Drew turns out to be Olivia, who is trying to track down her ex-husband, Matt. The copycat killer, meanwhile, was the sister of one of Matt’s victims looking for revenge.

During the season 2 finale, Ava and Nathan escape with Matt’s help. Matt promises to turn himself in except he’s lying and Nathan promises to end the season with Ava in handcuffs.

Based on a true story, the sophomore season was about Nathan finding his voice. He brought Tori (and Matt) back from Mexico and formed a bond with Matt alone at the time. Matt then spent the entire season getting Nathan to follow his gut and go against Ava.

This results in Nathan being arrested for assaulting his tennis nemesis. Things get even worse when Nathan gets involved in helping Ava track down the copycat killer. They caught the attention of the new killer – and were almost killed. Matt saves the day but then promptly frames Nathan and disappears.

After getting hit left and right during Season 1, Matt decided to try something new in Season 2. He wrapped up his days as a West Side Killer and chose a future with Tori instead. This new version of Matt didn’t last long because he couldn’t resist his instincts for long. Matt also questions why a copycat killer was pretending to be him.

It turns out that the new killer was related to his last victim. Matt confronts him – and saves Nathan and Ava. When Matt promises to turn himself in, he flips the script on Nathan, who takes the blame for all of Matt’s crimes.

Before watching Nathan get arrested, Matt marries Tori so they won’t be forced to testify against each other. What started as a beautiful milestone in their relationship turns into something even more dangerous when Tori kills Matt’s ex-wife. He also kidnaps Matt’s son, which further divides him and Tori.

Matt reveals his murderous tendencies to Tori before the season begins. This led Tori to support Matt throughout the season. But eventually her past catches up with her and Tori can’t handle it. He accidentally kills his ex-wife Olivia and then kidnaps her son. The season ends with Tori feeling guilty for the chaos she caused. She returns Matt’s son and disappears, apparently ending her romance with Matt.

Initially, Drew was a friend made in the park. Drew turns out to be a detective working on the copycat killer case. As Ava continues to track down the killer, she learns that Drew wasn’t actually working for the police.

Eva then assumes that Drew must be the killer. Drew then turns up at Matt and Tori’s wedding, where she reveals that she is Matt’s ex-wife and the mother of his child. An argument breaks out and Tori kills Drew aka Olivia, forcing Ava, Nathan and Matt to cover her up. Tori even kidnaps Drew and Matt’s son in an attempt to make things better.

Tori begins to regret her decision and returns Matt’s son to his grandparents. The whole group gathers to dispose of Drew’s body, but then Matt arrives and begins preparing to sell Nathan. He didn’t hide Drew’s body so the police would find it, and since they moved the remains to Nathan’s car, he ended up being the prime suspect in his murder.
