A viral video of a flight attendant shows pilots landing in a heavy rainstorm.

It was a dark and stormy night when a video filmed from the cockpit of a plane surfaced on social media showing the conditions pilots face while landing in heavy rain.

“That was the day I learned that planes have wiper blades,” said TikToker @damailufta, who shared his front-row seat behind the pilots in the cockpit as their windshield wipers went off in Stavanger, Norway. Worked to clear the landing scene at Sula Airport. .

Mina Forman Bertheussen, 30, who said she is a Norwegian Airlines flight attendant based in Oslo, was not working the night she shot the video. She was a passenger on her own airline visiting family and requested a seat in the cockpit for part of the flight.

The rarely-seen glimpse of what goes on inside the cockpit during bad weather stunned viewers, and the video garnered more than 3.5 million views.

“These guys are magicians,” someone commented.

“Talk about trusting your devices,” another viewer commented.

As the plane approached for landing, the pilots could hear how many meters above the ground the plane was, which Bertheusen says should dispel the idea that planes land on autopilot.

“You can actually hear it during the video,” he said. “At about 300 to 400 meters, you’ll hear a loud alarm. That’s them turning off the autopilot. So from there, they’re flying the airplane completely by themselves. The autopilot is off.” Use only under certain circumstances.”

Bertheusen said her cockpit approach confirmed what she already knew about the training and professionalism of pilots.

Flying during turbulent weather can be unsettling for passengers, but Bertheusen said, in his experience, there’s no reason to worry.

“The video looks very dramatic, but they are in complete control,” he said. “It wasn’t really dramatic. It’s normal for pilots, and they have a lot of training. It’s like flight attendants for us. When it’s messy or when there’s turbulence, we don’t panic because our We have the training and we know what is safe.”
