Breaking his silence after a brutal third-round knockout, Tim Tszyu has laid bare the toll of his second career defeat. Speaking to Fox News Australia, the Aussie fighter revealed harrowing details about his physical and emotional recovery. “I couldn’t feel my legs, and my brain was fuzzy. Every shot I was hit with felt like a bomb exploding,” Tszyu said, recalling the fight. “In my head, I thought, ‘This motherf***er is going to have to kill me to get me out of here.’”
The fight ended with Tszyu knocked down four times, suffering his first concussion. He spent the night in hospital, unable to sleep. “It was a weird feeling,” he said. “What burns me is that I wasn’t able to show myself. I just got humiliated and embarrassed in front of the whole world.”
Adding to the sting of defeat, Tszyu’s fiancée, Alex, endured vile abuse from trolls. “People say things to her and stuff like that, but the fact she’s able to handle it shows her character,” he said. “Not to my missus, not to my family. That’s not right.”
Despite the setbacks, Tszyu remains defiant. “I don’t know how many times I got knocked down, but no matter what, I was always going to keep getting back up. I was ready to die in there,” he said.
Now, Tszyu wants to reconnect with his roots and Australian fans. “I want to take it back old school—no technology, no stats, no numbers. Just pure grind. I feel like I left my Aussie fans behind to chase the stars,” he admitted. “Australia’s always been in my heart.”
And he couldn’t help a jab at American coffee: “You can’t get good coffee in Vegas. I missed my dog, my missus, the fresh Aussie air, and my local coffee shop.”
