Netflix star José de la Torre is no more.
The Spanish actor has passed away at the age of 37 following a prolonged battle with an unnamed illness.
His death was reported on Dec. 5 by Montilla Digital.
A funeral for the Toy Boy star was held the following day, Dec. 6, in his hometown of Montilla, Spain.
De la Torre first revealed his diagnosis in June, sharing that he was facing a “serious illness” that required immediate treatment. Shortly after, he stepped away from acting to focus on his health.
Spanish actress Luisa Martín paid tribute to her late friend in a heartfelt Instagram post, sharing a photo of de la Torre smiling.
“I don’t think about you in the past baby! No because I know you’ll keep organizing every dinner and every space. Fly as high as you know. You are light, a very bright light, that will illuminate us all,” she wrote.
“It breaks my heart to think I’ll never hear your voice again, but I’ll keep talking to you. I love you infinitely José,” Martín added.
Actress and singer Lolita Flores also mourned de la Torre’s loss, sharing her condolences on Instagram.
“How hard it is for me to accept that you are gone, without even knowing you. I met you in the play Salome,” Flores wrote.
“We shared very few hours, but your 37 years hurt me, how unfair life is sometimes, handsome on the outside and on the inside,” she continued. “Your departure hurts me, it hurts me, and the pain of those who have loved you hurts me.”
Flores added, “I did not have time to love you, but I did have time to know you. Consoling your parents and your sister will be difficult, heaven awaits you with open arms, how sad, you have gone too soon, too soon.”
De la Torre rose to fame starring in Netflix’s Toy Boy, which aired for two seasons between 2019 and 2021. His other notable credits include Amar es para siempre, Vis a Vis: El Oasis, and Servir y proteger.
