Addressing the Alternate Press In 2016, Bryar shared details of being a part of My Chemical Romance from their early days and knowing that the band was “special” from the get-go.
“I quit a really good touring gig where I was doing tour management and vocals. I quit that job to join this band that was dirty, had glassware, a broken, “There was a smoking, death trap van. They smelled bad, too,” he told the outlet. “Welcome to the Black Parade.” Long before I did, I knew it. [MCR] were special and I wanted to be a part of it. I wanted to help prepare the band and be able to participate with them every night.
Brier also shared some of his lasting memories as the band’s drummer.
“There are a few shows and events that really stand out for me. The first one included the whole Black Parade tour. I thought I was dreaming most of the time,” Bryer shared. “I really want everyone to have the opportunity to sit on my drum kit, have the best time ever and think how crazy it is during the show.”
He continued: “We spent a lot of money on the tour. We also put all the money we made into the production. We did it because we were more into the show, not the money. It kept us ticket prices high. It helped to have less. I still wish I had a piece of that set as a memory. It was the most enjoyable period of my life.”
