James Cameron will participate in some sudden details of his 25 -year -old movie, “Titanic”, who achieved his release next month.
In a new video interview with GqThe iconic director revealed that it had not ended almost by throwing Leonardo DiCaprio or Kate Winslet-his romantic strings that his career in Holwood was organized by an Oscar-winning historical movie.
While looking at the actors to play in the roles of his stellar fans on the lining of the governed ocean, Cameron explained that he was initially thinking about a person like Gwyneth Paltrow for Rose, and while Winslet was suggested as an option, he was afraid that he was a lot of TypeCast.
“Indeed, I didn’t see Kate at first,” he said in the video. “I also did some other historical dramas, and she had a good reputation like” Kate Corner “doing historical things.” (It is true that the credits of the three actress “the reader” before “Titanic” were also a fashion drama – “Sense and Sensibility” in 1995, followed by “Jude” and “Hamlet” one year later.)
Cameron went on to say that he was afraid to put Winslet in the role “would look like the most ecclesiastical casting in the world,” but he nevertheless agreed to interview her in the end. Of course, I think it was “wonderful”, and the rest is the date.
With DiCaprio, at the same time, there were some initial hiccups.
After a “hysterical” initial meeting with the Heartthrob representative, in which all women at the production office ended in one way or another in the conference hall alongside Cameron, DiCaprio was invited to re -test the screen with Winslet, which was already delivered at that point.
But when the star “Romeo + Juliet” came, he was surprised when he learned that he would have to read the lines and be photographed alongside Winslet to measure their chemistry on the camera.
“He came, and I think it was another meeting to meet Kate,” Cameron described.
I remember telling the husband, “We’ll just play some lines, and I will do the video.”
But then, DiCaprio – who had led many films and recorded an Oscar nominated for “What is eating Gilbert Grape” for 1993 – “Do you mean that I read? … I do not read, which means that he has no longer presented Forced to test the roles of films.
Without any rhythm, Cameron extended his hand to the star and told him, “Well, thanks for his arrival.”
Then the director explained to Dicaprio the enlargement of the project in front of them, how the film would take two years of his life, and how it would not be “not raised” by making the wrong decision to make. ”
“So you will read or not get the part,” Cameron told the young actor.
DiCaprio reluctantly presented his balance.
Cameron remembered how the actor “Lit Up” and “Gack”, which creates electrical chemistry with Winslet later, clearly watched it in the same movie.
“Titanic” sailed to theaters on December 19, 1997, and in the end he won 11 Academy Award, including the best director of Cameron.
