Old Dominion made history at the awards show, taking home their seventh Vocal Group of the Year trophy at the 2024 CMA Awards.

“I mean, we’ve worked really, really, really hard on it, so in that aspect, yeah, we can believe it,” Ramsey explained. us “We feel so much love from our fans and community, it’s been a really amazing ride. The fact that we’ve gotten this far is hard to believe.
Old Dominion has been performing together since 2007, overcoming financial struggles and once having difficulty paying its water bill.
“Those were lean days,” Ramsey recalled. “We were all struggling like every other artist that came here. [and] Every other writer who moves to Nashville just has to dig their heels in and do whatever it takes no matter how hard it gets because you just love it so much and we That’s what they were doing.
Tarsi, 45, noted that those odds were “some of the best times.”
“I mean, you’re up all night, meeting people, playing songs. Everybody’s pushing each other,” Tarsi explained. “This is an important one [and] A special time, you know?”
According to Tarsi, the group’s enduring friendship has also shaped their journey as a musical group.
“I mean, luckily, we’re friends, you know what I mean?” Tarsi said. “It’s, like, we tear each other up. We just laugh and I don’t know why, but we just get along.
Ramsey, for his part, added that he was also “that way before the band.”
During Wednesday’s awards ceremony in Nashville, the band won Vocal Group of the Year, beating out Lady A, Little Big Town, The Red Clay Strays and Zac Brown Band, respectively.
Addressing. us In the press room after the victory, Ramsey emphasized that “not much has changed” for the group since the record-breaking win.
“We love everything we do. We love hanging out together,” Ramsey said. “We inspire each other. It doesn’t just stop and it comes with being in a band. If you’re a solo artist, you don’t have the energy to use it. If I don’t have it that day. is, so I know one of them will have it, and then it will bring me to that level, so not much has changed, we just wear fancy suits.
Now, he wants to pass on his years of lessons to other budding artists.
“First of all, just be true to yourself and don’t chase radio and chase the way you think you feel,” Rosen, 49, advises. us on the red carpet. “Do things that excite you, because if you’re passionate about it and you’re writing your favorite song, it’s going to translate to somebody else.”
