The FBI is reportedly working with local law enforcement to investigate recent burglaries at the homes of high-profile athletes. Travis Kelce And Patrick Mahomes.
NBC News reports that authorities are trying to determine whether the break-ins are “connected to an international crime ring, such as one from South America.” The investigation is still ongoing, and it is not yet known who is actually responsible for the thefts.
Law enforcement sources also told ABC News that the investigation “can’t completely discount the local individual,” noting that it’s “very easy” that athletes like Kelce, 35, and Mahomes, 29, were involved. Will be out of the house during the game. day
News broke earlier this month that the homes of Kansas City Chiefs players were burglarized within 48 hours of each other. According to the report received by the police peopleofficers were dispatched to Mahomes’ property in Belton, Missouri shortly after midnight on October 6. The following day, Kelce’s home in Leawood, Kansas, was robbed while the Chiefs were playing the New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead Stadium. Authorities reported that $20,000 was taken from Kelis’ home and the back door was “broken in.”
Kelce has yet to address the incident, but Mahomes expressed his thoughts during a Nov. 13 press conference. “It’s frustrating,” the quarterback said. “It’s disappointing. … [It’s] Obviously you don’t want to be with anyone, but especially yourself.”
Mahomes noted at the time that he “couldn’t go into too many details” because of the ongoing investigation. (It is unclear whether Patrick and his wife, Britney MahomesThey were at home with their children — daughter Sterling, 3, and son Kansi, 23 months — when the incident happened.)
Most recently, the Wisconsin home of the Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Ports Stolen on November 10. According to ABC News, police believe the three incidents are similar. Authorities are still looking into all possible leads – including local criminals and otherwise – and gathering relevant evidence. In the case of Kelis, the Leawood Police Department told ABC News that they “will not comment on any open investigation.”
“Our agency follows up on all investigative leads and works closely with victims to resolve open cases,” the statement continued. “The Leawood Police Department is dedicated to the public we serve and will work tirelessly to ensure that Leawood City remains one of the safest cities in the state of Kansas.”
