Instagram users are left with questions and concerns after actress Jenny Mullen shared a video revealing her discovery of itchy head lice while on a plane.
Mullen, who appeared in the movie “My Best Friend’s Girl” and is the wife of actor Jason Biggs, said she was on a flight between Los Angeles and New York when she realized she had lice, identified by a A friend did.
His Instagram announcement, along with a follow-up post, was shared by Mullen late last month but has made recent headlines prompting users to mute.

“I hope you told the staff,” said another.
Mullen, seen in the video with a plastic bag over her head, said she had been scratching her head for two weeks.
In a recent video, Mullen is seen getting a lice removal treatment and ending the flying controversy with lice.

“The airplane seat that is so annoying to the person sitting there,” Mullen said on Instagram, where he tagged Licensors, a New York City-based lice removal company.
“I wanted to be clear, I didn’t know I had lice until I was on the plane,” she said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), lice are parasitic insects found on people’s heads and bodies and can be spread by close person-to-person contact.

The most common way to catch lice is through head-to-head contact, Bonanno told Fox News Digital via email.

Bonanno added, “The only place lice can live is on the human head… an adult worm will crawl from one head to the other – you can’t catch an egg – just a worm.”
The most effective way to treat lice is to get all the bugs out, she said, and it’s important to communicate with people around you so they can be checked and treated.
“Hair acts as a bridge for lice to crawl from one end to the other,” Bonanno said. “So the less hair exposed, the better. Plaiting hair in a braid or bun helps.” Bonanno said.

Bonanno, a certified head lice removal therapist, said certain scents such as lavender, peppermint, coconut and tea tree oil can help repel the mites.
Treatments from removal service companies like Fairy LiceMothers usually take one to two hours, but can take longer if one does it themselves.
