Keyshawn Davis Dodges Andy Cruz, Fights Berinchyk Instead

Keyshawn Davis confirmed today that his next fight will be against WBO lightweight champion Dennis Bruncheck for his belt. The date and venue are yet to be determined.

Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) already knew he was facing Berinchyk for his title before his last fight against Gustavo Lemos on Nov. 8. Top Rank had set it up with the WBO for a Keyshawn vs. Lemos match to determine the mandatory for Berinchyk.

Chasing Klout

Interestingly, Keyshawn still used the post-fight interview spotlight to call out WBA champion Gervonta Davis. That means he was just trying to get cheap attention for himself. Keyshawn only used the name Gervonta to help him get more attention from fans, which is sad when you think about it.

Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) most recently captured the vacant WBO 135-lb title with a 12-round split decision win over Emanuel Navarrete on May 18. It would have worked better for Top Rank if Navarrete had won because it would have set up a better in-house match between him and Keshawn. Berinchyk vs. Keyshawn won’t be nearly as big a fight.

It would look a lot better if Keshawn matched his four-time victory. Andy CruzInstead of Bruncheck, 36, who is slow and not exactly young. Keshawn’s excuse for not fighting Cruz is that he’s “not ready” and “the guy’s not trying to fight me. I’m going to knock him out.”

Cruz then responded to the comments by saying he wanted a fight. Cruz basically made it clear that Keyshawn made the whole outfit about him not wanting to fight him.

The WBO title won’t help Keyshawn.

Keyshawn wants to be champion badly, but he doesn’t want to go through Andy Cruz to get the belt. He believes his title shot will open the door to a massive payday against WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis. Keyshawn can be kidding himself because getting the WBO belt from Berinchyk doesn’t make Tank want to fight him.

It is what will happen. Keyshawn will rot With the title, fighting no-name opposition until he could make the 135-lb weight limit. It could be soon as he already looks like a welterweight now. He wouldn’t be able to drop below 150 to fight at lightweight for six to ten years, waiting for division king Tank Davis to fight him.

Bernardo Osuna: “It’s starting at the elite level for you. Now, you’re the WBO mandatory challenger for Denys Berinchyk’s title. What’s been discussed since your big performance with Top Rank, and for you What’s next?

Keshawn Davis: “I’m not going to drop the spot yet, but for sure, Denis Brunchek is my next opponent. He’s an unbeatable fighter, a pressure fighter. He’s from Ukraine and a friend of Lomachenko and Usek. He’s a great fighter. .

“I feel like he fell asleep. It’s crazy. Last year, we had to fight him, but now that he’s the world champion, everything works out for the better. I think Going into this fight, it’s going to be another interesting fight.

“This is not a boring fight. I know people are going to come out and support us and see what ‘The Businessman’ is going to show tonight.

If the fight is Norfolk like Keyshawn’s last fight against Lemos, Berinchyk may have no chance of winning. If it goes to the scorecard do you think the judges will give it to the incoming fighter? I Don’t Bruncheck was nearly robbed in his last fight against Navarrete on May 18 in San Diego, California. Many fans had Berinchyk winning 10-2, but one judge scored it for Navarrete. He was crazy.

Berinchyk-Navarrete score

115–113: Berinchyk
116-112: Navarrete
116–112: Berinchyk
