Rory McIlroy has won golf’s majors, but his latest win brought tears to his eyes for a number of reasons, including his personal life, with him and his wife, Erica, nearly Divorced.
“It means a lot,” McIlroy said Sky Sportsafter winning the DP World Tour Race to Dubai tournament for the third consecutive year. Erica and her daughter Poppy were on the course with her.
“I’ve been through a lot this year – personally, professionally. It feels like 2024 is about to end. Look, I’ve been patient this year, had some close calls, didn’t make it. Ska, so be able to get over the line – I had a great start, and then in the middle of the round I wasn’t at my best.”

McIlroy celebrated the win with his family, who choked him up as he talked about it.
“Their support means the world to me,” he told reporters.
“To be able to show Poppy what happened today and maybe some of the reasons why I’m working or practicing all the time… to celebrate with her.”

McIlroy filed for divorce from Erica in May. however, McIlroy told the Guardian In June, their differences were reconciled.
“Over the past weeks, Erica and I realized that our best future was together as a family,” he said.
“Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
On the golf course, though, McIlroy has generally had more trouble than he has, including a meltdown at this year’s US Open, which Bryson DeChambeau suffered after McIlroy faced some trouble in the final round. had won
It got to the point where he had to step away from the game for a while before picking things back up with the Scottish Open.
McIlroy found himself in serious contention at the US Open, Irish Open, BMW PGA Championship and Dubai Invitational, but fell short in all of those tournaments.
So, emotions were clearly high when he finally saw the final putt go down in Dubai.

“It’s been a long year, but I’m very happy with where I am in my career and my life, and I feel like everything is working out the way it’s supposed to,” McIlroy said.
